Quick Shrimp Gumbo

2 cups canned tomatoes (un-drained)
1 cup uncooked white rice
1 medium garlic clove, minced
Fresh ground pepper
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
Dash hot pepper sauce
12 oz pre-cooked jumbo shrimp
*optional: add smoked sausage

Place all ingredients (except shrimp) in a large stockpot and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat, cover, and let simmer for 25-30 minutes. Add the shrimp,
cover, and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until shrimp is thoroughly heated.
